Pinvin Friends (Friends of Pinvin Federation)

Friends of Pinvin is an active parent and teacher association supporting the Pinvin Federation of Schools (Pinvin C of E First & St Nicholas C of E Middle).  This group of hard working and dedicated parents, guardians and teachers work closely together to encourage strong relationships and communication between staff, parents and others associated with the school.  They deliver a wide range of events to enhance the education experience of the pupils and raise vital funds to pay for equipment and activities that is not otherwise provided by the Education Authority.

What we fund:

Pupil and staff voice are incredibly important and wish lists are compiled at the beginning of the new academic year. This helps to draw up a plan to ensure the money being fundraised for has a specific purpose.

During the academic year 2022/23, Friends of Pinvin generated £2,062.  By utilising this and previous year’s fund-raising efforts, we funded several important projects, pieces of equipment and experiences for our pupils including:

  • School resources including subscriptions to Nessy, Twinkl and Helicopter Stories (£744.93)
  • Christmas Gifts from Santa for all pupils (£393.53)
  • Year 4 and Year 7 leavers gifts (£547.64)
  • Subsidised Panto costs to keep price down for parents (£531.78)
  • Christmas crackers/tablecloths etc at the children’s Christmas lunch (£103.32)
  • And not forgetting the £6000 contributed towards the new Trim Trail for all the children to use.

As our committee grows, we are able to continue to strengthen the parent/teacher relationship and deliver more activities and raise funds.  We rely on the good will and dedication of our parents/guardians/carers and teachers and are always looking for more interested volunteers.

What do volunteers do?

You can help as much or as little as you like.  We are grateful for any time you can offer.  You can either choose to take one of our committee roles (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer or Secretary which are voted for each year at the September AGM), or you can just offer your help at various events or offer to support tasks in preparation for events.  There is no pressure or expectation on your time, we just ask that if you offer your support for a specific event, you do all you can to see that through.  But we understand circumstances can change and will always be understanding at those times.

Event support can include serving refreshments at events, selling raffle tickets, taking entrance fees, cooking food, setting up and packing down stands/stalls etc.  Pre event support can include gathering raffle/tombola prizes, booking suppliers, creating posters, making up hampers/sweet cones, sourcing items to decorate events (such as santa’s grotto!) and much much more!

What do Friends of Pinvin support?

We run a variety of events each year but are constantly adding to the calendar!  We run disco’s, Christmas and summer fairs, bingo, fun runs, provide refreshments at school events such as sports days and the talent show, organise and pay for coaches to the panto amongst other things.

How often do Friends of Pinvin meet?

We meet once per half term either in School, in the pub or online – whatever suits the majority of members, although the AGM will always be held in school.  Meetings are usually in the evening and last for a couple of hours where we run through an agenda, update on recent events and finances, and plan for future events and fund raisers.  It’s not essential that you attend meetings, you can just join our WhatsApp group and Facebook Group and volunteer your time that way if you prefer, but the meetings are a good way to stay in touch with what’s going on and get to know your fellow Friends of Pinvin members.  We will always circulate the minutes to all members after each meeting.

Why not join and influence what opportunities your child has in school.  We are always welcome to new fundraising events and ideas.
