The Pinvin Federation Local Academy Board

Terms of Reference

  • Responsible for overseeing the strategic management, direction and operation of Pinvin C of E First School and St Nicholas C of E Middle School subject to the provisions of the Diocese of Worcester Multi- Academy Trust (DoWMAT), Scheme of Delegated Authority.
  • Supporting and challenging the Head Teacher, holding them to account for the educational performance of our schools and the experience of pupils and staff.
  • Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating progress against the Federation’s targets and development plan.
  • Working in partnership with the School Senior Leadership Team, staff and DoWMAT we strive for continual school improvement so that our pupils enjoy the highest possible standards of education and achieve to the best of their ability.
  • Upholding and supporting the Christian distinctiveness of the Federation, helping to ensure the Christian vision and values underpins all aspects of academy life.
  • Monitoring the impact of the Federation’s vision on the direction, ethos and effectiveness of the schools and the behaviour and development of our pupils.
  • Determining governor monitoring arrangements for key activities, and considering any issues raised through monitoring visits.
  • Overseeing the school’s financial performance and working with the Headteacher to determine appropriate and effective expenditure
  • Establishing, monitoring and reviewing Federation policies and procedures
  • Highlight issues and risks related to the Federation for the attention of the DoWMAT Trust Board

 

The Federation’s Governor comprise representatives of parents, staff, the Church of England, the Diocese (foundation governors) and co-opted governors with expertise and experience from the wider community.

We meet as a full body at least six times a year whilst individual governors also visit the schools regularly to explore and discuss specific issues and meet pupils and staff.

 

Most business is conducted through the full Advisory Board, but we are supported by two other committees:

Finance Committee: which provides detailed scrutiny and monitoring of budgets and financial issues

Pay Committee: which reviews and determines staff pay decisions.
