Year 7 in Paris 2024

With just over 6 weeks to go until the Year 7 residential to Paris, please make sure that you have submitted a copy of your child's passport and GHIC/EHIC to the school office so that we can fill in the necessary forms for the ferry etc. Please see a copy of the kit list, baggage labels, sample menu and insurance documents for you to look over.

And so the adventure begins.  43 very excited year 7's head to Paris.  After a brief stop at Oxford services we are on our way to a McDonald's breakfast in about two hours.

We've made good time and are at Dover - just waiting to board the ferry.  Will keep you updated.

We are all safely off the ferry and heading to Vimy Ridge before we arrive at the Chateau this evening.  I'm having some technical problems but will attempt more photos when I have a stable connection.

We spent about an hour at the Vimy Ridge war memorial - the site of the Canadian forces in WW1.  We had a chance to go into the tunnels and walk the trenches.

We're still on the road but hoping to arrive at the Château in about an hour...will keep you posted.

Had a good night’s sleep and had a lovely breakfast.  The morning was spent at the hypermarket and we are now on the way to the medieval village of Provins.

Amazing day in Provins - we took lots of photos but I have technical difficulties uploading at the moment but I'll continue to try. After we got back there was a swimming session.  We are about to go down for dinner and after that crepe making and sports/football outside.

Just had an amazing day in central Paris.  Spent the morning on the Seine river cruise followed climbing the Eiffel Tower to the second floor for some fantastic views.  Had a chance to stop outside the Louvre for photos and now heading back to the Chateau for swimming, dinner and evening activities.

Today we will be in central Paris again at the Hotel des Invalides, Sacre Coeur/ Montmartre and the Arc De Triomphe another very full but fun filled day to follow.

What a way to finish our Paris adventure. We spent the morning at a chocolate factory where we saw how the chocolates are made and we were even allowed to try some :-).  The students have bought some at the shop to take home as presents so hopefully they are still in the bags and have not been eaten before  they get home.  On the way to the ferry now which is due to leave at 6pm (French time) were are still on for a 11.30 arrival back at school but we will keep you informed of our ETA.

I've had quite a few problems updating the website with photos but between the teachers we do have over 500 photos of our adventure.  When we get home I will go through them deleting the blurred ones and put them on a data stick.  We will sell these for the modest sum £5 (this includes the price of the data stick along with the photos).  This will be an amazing keep-sake for both you and your child to remember their time away and so they can talk through the week with you.

Just to keep parents appraised, we are off the ferry and back in England.  Heading home at the moment but still a few hours away.  If we can clear the M25 'car-park' in good time we will stop for something to eat before getting home.  School will inform you of our ETA en route but we should be back for 11.30 or earlier if the traffic is kind to us.
